Imo Assembly majority, deputy leaders resign in controversial circumstances

Two principal officers of the Imo State House of Assembly, the Majority Leader, Hon. Lugard Osuji and his deputy, Hon.  Kennedy Ibeh resigned their positions in plenary.

Though the circumstances regarding their action remained unclear as at the time of filing this reports; sources close to the assembly told NAIJAOXYGEN that their action might not be unconnected with the battle of wits between the Assembly and the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha.

Okorocha had recently failed to read the budget estimates for the year 2018 to the state House of Assembly as members decided to stay away prompting suggestion that all might not well between the Assembly and the governor who were all elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Our correspondent on Tuesday sighted the hand written resignation letter of Ibeh addressed to the Speaker, Acho Ihim wherein he stated that “I Barr. Kennedy Ibeh, deputy majority leader (of the) Imo State House of Assembly do hereby resign (my appointment) as a principal officer of the House of Assembly.”
