FG withdraws support from Bash Ali’s Pet Project, Novelty Bout

The Federal Government of Nigeria has dissociated itself from novelty boxing match ,Guinness World Boxing Project, being promoted by Bash Ali .

The disclaimer is not unconnected to the fact that the proposed Bout falls under the statutory responsibility of Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), being a professional category that is purely a business concern.

According to an Official of the ministry who doesn’t want his name to be mentioned. He said that the boxer came to the Ministry with a bag that he claimed contained two million naira, which he said was the balance left from a N15 million out of court settlement after paying his lawyers.

The boxer was advised to pay through Remita e-payment platform if truly he wanted to make refunds to the government.
This is in line with the Treasury Single Account practice.

Meanwhile,a notice of disclaimer has been issued to Bash Ali through his Lawyer B.O. Nafagha & Co as regard his pet project.

The letter reads in part , “the Ministry under the directive of Mr. President in a letter, dated 10th March, 2020 made it clear that it is not the proper platform for your client to realize his pet project.”

“And as a final note I am directed to advise your client to restrain from engaging in any act capable of creating a difficult atmosphere for the Ministry and its staff to carry out their functions.” Ministry wrote.

All efforts to reach Bash Ali as at press time proved abortive.
